Vikings safety Josh Metellus spent this offseason rising up the depth chart, carving out a key role for himself on defense, and most recently, being named a team captain for the first time. Now it appears he will be sticking around Minnesota for the foreseeable future.A source confirmed to the Pioneer Press on Thursday morning that Metellus has agreed to a two-year contract extension. He will reportedly get $6 million guaranteed in the process with the contract extension as a whole worth up to $13 million. An official announcement from the Vikings should come at some point in the near future. This is a nice reward for Metellus after originally being selected by the Vikings in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. After starting his career as a special teams ace, fully leaning into that role when many young players do not, Metellus has slowly seen his role grow on defense, as well. The arrival of new defensive coordinator Brian Flores has resulted in even more responsibilities for Mete...FCSO: One dead in Broadalbin car crash

Colorado’s aspen stands are thriving, and that bodes well for fabulous leaf-peeping this fall according to one of the state’s leading forestry experts.Dan West, entomologist for the Colorado State Forest Service and a member of the faculty at Colorado State University, spent most of the past two months flying over the state’s 24 million acres of forest. The main purpose of his annual aerial observation tour is to assess forest health, but it also gives him a unique perspective to forecast the quality of fall foliage colors.“They look better than they’ve looked in a very long time,” West said. “Aspen look really well, even in places that over the last several years have kind of struggled.”As a result, West also is predicting a return to normal timing for the color change. He expects to see aspen in the northern mountains — generally north of Interstate 70 — to start turning in the middle of this month and run through the third or f...These DU alums found love in their accounting classroom. Mad’s World: If you’re going to appear as a contestant on one of the reality TV music competitions (America’s Got Talent, American Idol, The Voice, X-Factor), your best bet is to get to the last few, and then not win. Madilyn Bailey is the latest addition to that list.Bailey appeared on AGT in 2021, initially impressing the judges with a song made out of the hate comments she received online.
