Black-owned company begins to revitalize former Robert E. Lee monument site RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — The symbolism of the moment and the task ahead of him is not lost on Earl Gary.“I think it’s very unique, the odds of me getting in a position like this,” Gary said. “I’m really grateful to be given this opportunity to perform with all of the history that comes with it.”Gary’s YME Landscape, a Black-owned Richmond company, has been chosen to revitalize the circle on Monument and North Allen avenues where the Robert E. Lee statue once stood. Motorbike rider dies after crash during Ironman triathlon European championship race HAMBURG, Germany (AP) — The rider of a motorbike has died following a crash with a competitor in an Ironman triathlon European championship race Sunday, police in the event’s host city of Hamburg said.Police said there was a head-on crash when a race support motorbike carrying a rider and a passenger collided with a triathlete who was cycling in the opposite direction. TV footage showed the incident happened on a section of road where competitors were riding in both directions as part of a loop in the course for the cycling section of the race. Motorbikes carrying camera operators were riding down the middle of the road.Police said in a statement that the 70-year-old motorbike rider died at the scene, a 26-year-old triathlete was treated for severe injuries and a 50-year-old camera operator was treated in hospital for shock. Man dies while performing vehicle maintenance, Aurora police say AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) -- A 48-year-old man died while performing maintenance on a pickup truck Saturday, police in Aurora said.The incident happened in the 3800 block of Uravan Street. Officers responded to the area around 5:10 p.m.They found the man, who was working on the transmission of the truck in his driveway when the vehicle rolled backward and pinned him under a wheel. First responders attempted life-saving measures, but he died on the scene.
